HOUSTON—During the Mega Adoption Event, which took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston on August 17 and 18, more than 1,000 pets were adopted into their forever homes in a heartwarming demonstration of community spirit.

This two-day event, organized by Petco Love in collaboration with local shelters, aimed to facilitate the connection between families and adoptable dogs at a reasonable cost of $35.
President of Petco Love, Susanne Kogut, shared that this event celebrates love and compassion for needy pets. Kogut continued, "We are overjoyed to witness the transformation of so many lives for the better, which is a testament to the unwavering dedication of shelter workers and volunteers."
The Mega Adoption Event showcased canines from more than 20 regional shelters, such as BARC, Montgomery County Animal Shelter, and Brandywine Valley SPCA. Each pet available for adoption was vaccinated, microchipped, and sterilized or neutered to guarantee that the new pet owner would have a healthy companion to take home.
The event attracted various animals, including playful canines, large dogs, senior cats, and affectionate kittens.
Jarrad Mears, Director of the BARC Shelter, stated, "Every pet deserves a loving home, and this event enables families to locate their ideal match." "We cordially invite all individuals to attend, interact with various exceptional animals, and potentially discover a new furry family member."
Since its inception in 2019, the Mega Adoption Event has placed more than 3,400 pets into loving homes. This year's event maintained this pattern, as more than 1,000 canines were adopted in two days.
The inaugural Mega Adoption Event in Houston resulted in the adoption of 1,450 canines, which established a high standard for subsequent events.
Adam Lamb, CEO of Brandywine Valley SPCA, expressed his enthusiasm for the event's influence: "Our Megas are an amazing experience; to witness as many pets who have lost everything are selected by families who are eager to provide them with a new life filled with love."
