The controversy surrounding the now-shuttered Turkey Leg Hut deepened this week as former frontman Lyndell "Lynn" Price was arrested on federal arson charges tied to a 2020 explosion at a Houston bar.
Lyndell "Lynn" Price, who used to be the lead singer of Houston band Turkey Leg Hut, was arrested by federal police on Friday in connection with an explosion that happened in 2020 at Bar 5015 in Third Ward.
The charges against Price, Armani Williams (27), and John Lee Price (39) are conspiracy to set fires and conspiracy to use an interstate facility to set fires to vehicles.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the guys planned to set fire to Bar 5015 early on June 12, 2020. Investigators say gasoline was poured at the door to the bar and then set on fire, which did a lot of damage but didn't hurt anyone. At the scene, police found several gas cans and something that could start a fire.
Price is also said to have paid John Price to set fire to a stolen 1975 Chevy Nova a few weeks before.
Steve Rogers, who used to work with Lynn Price in business, owns Bar 5015. It reopened a month after the fire. Rogers sued Price and his wife Nakia Holmes in July 2020 for not managing the money well at Turkey Leg Hut. The first case was settled, but the restaurant was later sued and given a nearly $1 million verdict before it went bankrupt.
Price and his co-defendants could get up to 20 years in federal jail and a $250,000 fine if they are found guilty. An extra conviction for setting fire to a car could add five more years.
Before his arrest, Price had launched The Oyster Hut after the closure of Turkey Leg Hut earlier this year.
