A BMW collided with a residence in northwest Houston, setting off an explosion that claimed the life of a 59-year-old man on Sunday morning. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with the side of the home on Hollister Road at approximately 12:30 a.m., resulting in the home catching fire.
The flames were contained before they could spread further by the prompt response of the firefighters. Emergency responders transported the motorist to a nearby hospital; however, he was declared deceased shortly after. Fortunately, no one was injured within the residence.
According to his neighbors, the man, who resided in the area, had been behaving erratically earlier in the evening. He was reportedly observed knocking on doors and professing to possess the keys of others, which prompted concerns regarding his actions prior to the accident.
The official cause of death will be determined through an autopsy, as authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident. The crash's circumstances are still being investigated.
